Krems an der Donau
Krems is the heart of the wine region Kremstal-Wachau along the Danube and the entrance gate to the Waldviertel. The plains of the Wagram and Tulln close to the east. On the opposite Danube area the Dunkelsteinerwald extends. The right bank of the Danube at Mautern is populated since Roman times.
Krems is located at an altitude of 203m above sea level and the lowest point in the municipality is at Hollenburg (189m)
Krems is the starting point of the Wachau cruises and port for numerous cruise ships and it welcomes the guests with the newly built World Heritage Centre.
